Liverpool are intent on offering manager Jurgen Klopp a new deal after a successful first season – and there has been a mixed response from their fans.

As Football Insider reported on Thursday morning, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are seemingly keen to secure the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s future for the foreseeable future.

The Daily Mail claim talks have already begun between Klopp and Liverpool even though he only signed a three-year contract last October when was appointed manager.

Some Liverpool fans have declared themselves delighted that Klopp has been approached about a new contract, after taking the club to both the Europa League final and the League Cup final in his first months at the helm.

However, some believe that it is a ploy to soften the blow in case any star players leave Anfield this summer.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

It is expected that the German will be offered a pay-rise to keep him at Anfield, as it has been rumoured that the 49-year-old has attracted interest from some of Europe’s heavyweights, as well as some national sides who have a vacancy in the managerial role.

In other Liverpool news, Brendan Rodgers is interested in making an offer for one of his former players after heaping praise on him.
