There was a mixed reaction from Liverpool fans on Twitter after former striker Christian Benteke scored the fastest ever World Cup qualifying goal for Belgium.
The striker netted a hat-trick on Monday evening as Belgium comfortably swept aside Gibraltar 6-0 and the former Liverpool player scored his first goal within seven seconds.
The previous record was set by San Marino’s Davide Gualtieri in a clash against England in 1993 and was scored within 8.3 seconds.
Benteke left Liverpool this summer after a £27m switch to Crystal Palace was confirmed but it seems his goal-scoring boots have returned.
Since leaving Liverpool, Benteke has netted six goals for club and country, the same number of goals he scored during his last eight months with the Reds.
Here is a selection of messages from Liverpool fans on Twitter top Benteke’s record-breaking feat:

Really a big fan of Benteke and happy for his hat-trick. Shame he didn’t work out for us, absolutely class player. #LFC

Benteke couldn’t keep up at LFC, won’t change my reservation on Lukaku too. Lowkey team OK but top team, I doubt still

Benteke’s in red hot form, and so is Balotelli. Quite evident that the system and style of pay at #LFC didn’t suit the two.

The Belgian striker wasn’t a hit with Reds’ fans after a mixed spell on Merseyside following his £32million transfer from Aston Villa.
Benteke struggled to hit top form under Brendan Rodgers and then slipped down the pecking order when Jurgen Klopp took over.
During the 2014-15 season, Benteke was one of the league’s most prolific goal-scorers, netting 14 goals for Aston Villa as part of a side that finished in 17th place in the Premier League.
His form has made him at key man at Crystal Palace but Liverpool, who have scored 10 league goals already this season, probably don’t regret their decision given Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana’s form.
