Moussa Sissoko impressed for France as they were beaten 1-0 by Portugal in the final of Euro 2016 – and Liverpool fans took to Twitter to urge Jurgen Klopp to sign the Newcastle attacking midfielder.
The 26-year-old made several powerful runs from midfield and was France’s principal attacking threat in the first hour.
But the 44-cap France international faded during the latter part of the game as he was substituted in extra-time, soon after Eder netted the winner for Portugal.
The Reds are reportedly in the driving seat for the attacking midfielder, who suffered relegation with Newcastle to the Championship in the recently completed season.
Sissoko is contracted to the Toon until June 2019 but could be tempted by an immediate move back to the Premier League with Liverpool rather than fighting for promotion in the Championship next season.
Many Liverpool fans hope Sissoko will make the move to Anfield as his style of play would suit their midfield.
One supporter even made the bold statement saying that he would take Sissoko over current Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson.
However, the wide man has been criticised for his lack of consistency at the top level, but a Liverpool fan felt that their manager could help him achieve the consistency he requires.
Here are some of their reactions on Twitter:
Sissoko had a good game & any team will be lucky to have him (Wouldn't mind him at #LFC) but he's no Pogba. Not even the same type of player

You see why we're linked with Sissoko great engine in centre midfield, if Klopp gets to grips with him, he'll be even better #LFC
