Daniel Sturridge has been named in the Liverpool starting XI to face Manchester United – and fans on Twitter have backed him to get on the scoresheet for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The two north-west rivals meet at Anfield on Monday night in what is expected to be a highly charged atmosphere.
United have won the last four league meetings against the Merseyside club, most recently the 1-0 victory at Anfield in January.
One supporter backed Sturridge to grab a brace against United, as they predicted the Reds to win 4-1.
While another urged the England international to perform at Anfield, following his poor performances in recent games.
Here is a selection of supporters reacting on Twitter to Sturridge starting against Manchester United:
Striker Sturridge has failed to score a league goal in six games this term, but did score a brace in the EFL Cup victory against Derby in September.
The England international has started four out of six league games for Klopp’s side this term, as the German has preferred Brazilian Roberto Firmino in a more forward role.
The Reds are fourth in the league table going into this titanic fixture, with 16 points to their name, while United are sixth with 13 points.
A win for Liverpool could see them go level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal who are first and second, while a win for United will see them go level on points with their rivals.
In other Liverpool team news, former Everton midfielder Leon Osman has urged Jose Mourinho to axe his friend Wayne Rooney.
