It has emerged that Liverpool are interested in signing Moussa Sissoko – and it is fair to say quite a few supporters on Twitter were not too happy with the club’s reported transfer target.

As reported by Football Insider, the club are favourites to seal a deal for the Newcastle attacking midfielder.

French publication L’Equipe claim that the Merseyside outfit are in pole position to land the 26-year-old as they look to make further additions to their squad ahead of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Sissoko is contracted to the Toon until June 2019 but could be tempted by an immediate move back to the Premier League with Liverpool rather than fighting for promotion in the Championship next season.

But, after the club-record signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton for a potential £38.5million, there is a strong feeling the club do not need another right-sided attacker.

Additionally, some Anfield supporters felt the winger’s relegation with Newcastle in the 2015-16 Premier League made him damaged goods.

However, some felt Sissoko can provide pace, power and goals to a technically gifted Liverpool line-up that does not score as many goals as it could

Here are some of their reactions on Twitter:
