Liverpool fans have reacted with excitement on Twitter after Sadio Mane was included in Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI to face Leeds.

The 24-year-old has retained his place from the off in the EFL Cup quarter final after starting against Sunderland on Saturday during the 2-0 win.

Liverpool posted the team news on their official Twitter account, with Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum the only two others remaining in the starting lineup from Saturday’s win.

Mane has featured 13 times for the Merseyside giants this season, but was expected to be rested after missing the previous EFL Cup tie against Tottenham.

However, Klopp has opted to include his first-team star as he looks to secure a place at Wembley by progressing to the semi finals.

Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter with surprise to see the speed merchant included in the starting XI, while some fans questioned Klopp for choosing to risk the summer signing.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Following his £35million move from Southampton earlier this summer, Senegal international Mane has scored six times and is yet to lose in a red shirt.

Liverpool are set to lose their flying winger in January though, as he jets off to represent his country in the African Cup of Nations.
