Trent Alexander-Arnold looked the part on his Liverpool debut – and fans on Twitter claimed the club have unearthed another gem.
The Merseysiders, who made 11 changes from the weekend, beat Tottenham 2-1 in the League Cup fourth-round clash on Tuesday night to secure a place in Wednesday’s quarter-final draw.
Alexander-Arnold delivered a buccaneering display from right-back, defending solidly and providing an impressive attacking option.
But the academy product received a yellow card in the opening period for a rash tackle and manager Jurgen Klopp opted to withdraw the teenager as part of a double substitution midway through the second half.
The 18-year-old was replaced at right-back by England international Nathaniel Clyne.
Liverpool supporters expressed their delight with Alexander-Arnold’s debut as they predicted big things for the youngster.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Daniel Sturridge the brightest player out there. Should have had 2. Decent half from Kev Stewart, Trent A-A & Grujic too. #LFC
