Liverpool fans reacted with amusement as Jamie Carragher had a dig at Raymond Verheijen on Twitter after the fitness guru praised Jurgen Klopp’s appearance on Monday Night Football.

Verheijen has openly criticised Klopp’s training methods in the past and has voiced his concerns over Liverpool’s high intensity training after a number of injuries were picked up at the start of the season.

However, the Dutchman told followers to watch Klopp’s “must-see” appearance on the Sky Sports’ show and Carragher replied to sarcastically question whether the two were now “mates” despite recent public remarks.

Klopp responded to criticism from Verheijen in a press conference when he joked that his methods would be questioned again by “some Dutch guy on Twitter.”

The 44 year-old is known for his outspoken views of leading managers on the subject of injury prevention and has criticised Mauricio Pochettino, Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger in the past.

The Dutchman has had coaching posts with the Holland, Russia, South Korea and Wales national teams, as well as Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City but has become unpopular on social media following his criticism of Klopp.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:
