Liverpool fans were left feeling frustrated as Chelsea moved to the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 victory against Middlesbrough on Sunday evening.
Antonio Conte’s side ground out a close victory against Boro at the Riverside Stadium and went top of the table for the first time this season.
Liverpool were held to a disappointing goalless draw against Southampton on Saturday, which means they now trail Chelsea by one point in the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were dominant against Southampton and created a number of chances to take the lead but just couldn’t find the breakthrough.
The Saints did not have a single shot on target during the 0-0 draw but Liverpool lacked ruthlessness in front of goal and they paid for it as Chelsea capitalised against Middlesbrough.
Diego Costa was on hand to score his 10th league goal of the season and his third in as many games after he reacted first to a goal-mouth scramble late in the first-half.
Chelsea had a chance to double their lead in the second-half as Pedro’s shot rattled against the cross-bar but Middlesbrough also mounted a number of counter-attacking moves which threatened to take the teams level.
Liverpool fans are disappointed but backed their team to bounce back.

In other Liverpool news, the club should sell this centre-back and eye a deal to swap him for Southampton’s defensive star.
