Rickie Lambert suffered a horrific leg injury while playing for Cardiff – and Liverpool fans expressed their sympathy on Twitter.
The former Liverpool striker was stretchered off in the clash against Nottingham Forest after a collision with their keeper, Vladimir Stojkovic.
He was taken to hospital immediately and required a number of stitches after it appeared he had cut his leg very badly.
“I don’t know how cuts heal but it looked horrific. I had to get one or two of the lads out – I didn”t want them looking at it at half-time in a game like that,” Neil Warnock told BBC Sport.
“The cut is that deep they’re just worried about whether there is any ligament damage because it is severed right through to his shin. It’s terrible.”
The 34 year-old joined Cardiff from West Brom in the summer after leaving Liverpool in July 2015 following one season at his boyhood club.
Lambert signed for Liverpool in June 2014 after scoring 106 goals in 207 league appearances for Southampton but failed to make an impact at Anfield.
He’s scored twice in nine games for Cardiff though, the same amount he managed in the league during 12 months with the Reds but fans wished him well on social media.
