Marko Grujic made his first competitive Liverpool start against Derby – and the club’s fans praised his contribution on Twitter.
The Reds cruised into the last-16 of the EFL Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win against the Championship side on Tuesday night.
Goals from Ragnar Klavan, Philippe Coutinho and Divock Origi ensured that there was no cup upset and Liverpool will hope to make up for the final defeat to Manchester City in the competition last season.
Grujic, 20, made a substitute appearance during the 2-0 defeat in the Premier League earlier in the campaign and has been restricted to the bench since his summer arrival.
Jurgen Klopp used the midfielder for the full 90 minutes against Derby and a selection of Liverpool supporters took to Twitter to applaud his performance.
Grujic is gonna be great for us in the future

Was impressed with Grujic's composed play throughout the game. Apart from one dodgy dribble, seems to regularly pick right option on ball

Impressed with Marko Grujic tonight. Another option in what is becoming an increasingly impressive midfield.

Grujic faces a tough battle to land himself a starting position in a highly competitive Liverpool squad.
Klopp has preferred a midfield trio of Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson at the beginning of the season and Grujic will hope to force his way into the side.
The youngster played 41 times at his former club Red Star Belgrade, scoring six goals and supplying seven assists.
Liverpool will find out their opponents for the next round of the EFL on Wednesday night and host Hull on Saturday in their latest Premier League game.
