Liverpool fans were impressed with versatile star James Milner after he returned to the side to face Watford.

The 30-year-old started against Walter Mazzarri’s side in place of Alberto Moreno, who had played in the Merseyside Giants’ last fixture against Crystal Palace, as Liverpool trounced Watford with a 5-1 win.

Former Leeds star Milner assumed his new position on the left side of the defence, as Sadio Mane grabbed a brace while Philippe Coutinho, Emre Can, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino all found the net.

Despite a mini onslaught in the second half, Watford were kept to only one strike by Liverpool’s defence as Milner lined up alongside Lucas, Joel Matip and Nathaniel Clyne.

Liverpool fans reacted on Twitter to the performance of Milner, as he becomes more and more accustomed to playing at left-back.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The former Leeds, Newcastle and Manchester City star saw out the full 90 minutes as Liverpool moved to the top of the table.

Despite playing from left-back, Milner has continued as Liverpool’s penalty taker and has four goals in all competitions to his name from just 10 games.

In other Liverpool news, fans have also reacted to the sublime performance of two-goal hero Sadio Mane on Twitter.
