Joe Allen assisted two goals for Stoke on Monday evening – and Liverpool fans heaped further praise on their former player on Twitter.

Stoke recorded a crucial 3-1 victory against Swansea, which saw them climb from 17th place to a lofty 12th position.

Allen, 26, provided Wilfried Bony’s first goal within three minutes before also providing the Ivory Coast international’s second and final goal after 75 minutes.

The Wales international has now provided three goals and bagged four himself in 12 appearances for the club in all competitions and has become an instant star at his new club.

He has begun his career in the Midlands in a more advanced role as a number 10 and Reds supporters are now expressing their sadness at his departure on social media.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Allen was unable to show the same attacking talent at Liverpool after playing in a more reserved role for the club.

The midfielder scored just seven goals in 132 appearances for the Merseyside club and he is set to surpass that record in no time at Stoke.

However, the Reds have been in impressive attacking form themselves and have scored 24 goals in just 10 league games this campaign.
