Liverpool fans have reacted with delight on Twitter after Joe Gomez made his belated return to training following a year-long nightmare with injury.
The versatile defender tore his anterior cruciate ligament back in October 2015, before picking up another long-term setback with an achilles injury during his rehabilitation in July 2016.
However, the Liverpool Echo have reported that Gomez has made a full recovery and was given a round of applause as he made his way onto the training pitches at Melwood on Friday.
The England Under-21’s international will be looking to return to first-team football under manager Jurgen Klopp, after impressing prior to his injury.
Fans are delighted with the return of the former Charlton defender, with some saying that he is good enough to be thrown in to the Merseyside giants’ starting eleven.

With James Milner playing out of position at left back and Mamadou Sakho continuing to be frozen out by Klopp, versatile defender Gomez could find some joy as he targets a first-team return.
