James Milner scored the winner in Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Swansea on Saturday – and fans took to Twitter to praise the full-back for his goal.

Milner, 30, converted from the spot with just seven minutes of normal time remaining in the clash to seal a fifth win in a row for the Reds.

The result means Liverpool move up to second spot in the Premier League before the remainder of Saturday’s games kick-off.

Supporters on social media were thrilled with the former England international’s composure to score the goal.

Here is a selection of the messages on Twitter:

The versatile Merseyside ace has been a key player in the Jurgen Klopp revolution over the last 12 months.

Milner has played as a deep lying midfielder, left-winger and now a left-back since his free transfer to Anfield in 2015.

The former Manchester City star replaced Alberto Moreno at left-back earlier in the campaign and has now scored four goals and provided two assists in seven games for Liverpool this term.

In other Liverpool news, owner John Henry has suggested that fan protests over ticket prices has put further Anfield expansion at risk  – and fans have reacted with anger to the news on Twitter.
