Liverpool fans have reacted with surprise on Twitter after Lucas was named in the starting 11 to face Watford.
The Brazil international has been a bit-part player this season under Jurgen Klopp, but Lucas was chosen to start at centre-back in place of Dejan Lovren who has a virus.
Normally a midfielder, Lucas has been converted into a defender under Klopp and is set to make just his sixth appearance of the season against Walter Mazzarri’s Hornets alongside summer signing Joel Matip.
Liverpool will be looking to move to the top of the Premier League with three points, after Manchester City were held at home against Middlesbrough.
The Merseyside giants’ fanbase reacted on Twitter to the surprise news, with many concerned that Leiva will struggle against Watford’s firepower of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo.

The 29-year-old will be hoping to improve his record this season as a defender, keeping only one clean sheet against Championship outfit Derby.
Lucas is expected to play as part of a four man defence, as Klopp makes two changes with James Milner returning in place of Spaniard Alberto Moreno.
