Sadio Mane made a bold statement about his side’s chances against Manchester United and fans reacted on Twitter amusingly.
The Liverpool forward claimed his team would beat United in the Monday night clash and appears to be very confident, according to reports in the Telegraph.
The forward told the leading national newspaper, “We are going to beat Manchester United.”
The 24-year-old joined Jurgen Klopp’s team in the summer for £34 million, but was linked with a move to Manchester United.
Mane had an excellent campaign with Southampton, scoring 11 goals and was linked with a move to the Old Trafford side last summer.
However, Mane eventually completed the switch to Anfield and has made a blistering start to the season under Klopp.
The Senegalese has netted three goals in six Liverpool league games and was voted the club’s Player of the Month in August.
The showdown between the two side’s promises to be a feisty affair but Liverpool can be forgiven for feeling confident.
Klopp’s team have already scored 18 goals this season and could go top of the table should they beat United by three goals or more.
Mane’s confidence took some fans by surprise though and they’re hoping his statement doesn’t backfire on Monday evening.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Don’t get why so many people think Mané saying this is bad. If he said anything else then we’d all lose our shit. Confidence is key.
