Daniel Sturridge started upfront for England against Scotland on Friday evening and Liverpool fans were impressed with his display on Twitter.

The 27-year-old forward led the Three Lions’ line and opened the scoring with a fine header after 24 minutes in the 3-0 victory at Wembley with team-mate Adam Lallana doubling the score before Gary Cahill closed the scoreline.

He played 75 minutes of the encounter for Gareth Southgate’s side before coming off for Jamie Vardy.

Sturridge impressed with his performance on social media, with many celebrating his goal.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Sturridge has made just 10 appearances for Liverpool in the new campaign, scoring four goals, all coming in the EFL Cup.

Club manager Jurgen Klopp has favoured Roberto Firmino as his attacking spearhead this season and it has brought huge success to the team as they currently sit in first place.

They will face Southampton at St Marys next, who are currently sat in 10th place under new manager Claude Puel.

Liverpool will be looking to avenge a 3-2 defeat suffered on the south coast last time out as the Saints battled back from two goals down in the second half.

In other Liverpool news, Ryan Giggs delivered his verdict on this Reds man.
