Daniel Sturridge started for England in their 0-0 draw against Slovenia on Tuesday night – and Liverpool and England fans on Twitter were unimpressed with his display.
Sturridge has been on the fringes of the Liverpool team this season but was given the nod to a begin a consecutive match by interim manager Gareth Southgate.
In the absence of the injured Harry Kane, the 27-year-old was selected ahead of the likes of Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy and Wayne Rooney.
Sturridge played 81 minutes of the Group F World Cup qualifier but could not add to the goal he scored in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Malta.
England fans on social media were unimpressed with Sturridge’s performance, with their disappointment echoed by Liverpool supporters.
