Liverpool fans reacted with delight after Trent Alexander-Arnold was named in the EFL Cup’s Team of the Round following his performance against Tottenham.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut at right-back and chalked up an impressive display as his side recorded a dominating 2-0 victory.

Alexander-Arnold is one of Liverpool’s most promising youngsters and has made his way through the ranks with the academy, captaining the Under-16s squad in the past.

He received praise from Steven Gerrard in his autobiography after the Anfield legend named Alexander-Arnold as a star for the future.

Alongside Alexander-Arnold, there was also a place in the team for the Reds’ star striker, Daniel Sturridge after it was his brace which gave Liverpool the victory.

Liverpool have lined up a place in the quarter-final against Leeds who defeated Norwich in a thrilling penalty shoot-out.

The Leeds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri was included in the team of the round and manager Garry Monk got the nod as most impressive boss.

Both Liverpool stars will hope their inclusion in the team has further heightened their chances of being selected in the next round.
