Liverpool are favourites to seal a deal for Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko, according to a report.

French publication L’Equipe claim that the Merseyside outfit are in pole position to land the 26-year-old as they look to make further additions to their squad ahead of the 2016-17 Premier League season.

It is also said there is interest in the France international from Arsenal and Manchester United.

The attacking midfielder, 26, who was relegated with Newcastle this season scored just one goal and notched eight assists as his side finished 18th in the Premier League.

The report claims that the former Toulouse player has already been the subject of a rejected £9million bid from Hamburg this summer but it is believed that Magpies manager Rafa Benitez is doing all he can to retain the services of his number seven.

Sissoko is contracted to the Toon until June 2019 but could be tempted by an immediate move back to the Premier League with Liverpool rather than fighting for promotion in the Championship next season.

Jurgen Klopp has already made several additions to his squad this summer having already completed the signings of Sadio Mane, Loris Karius, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip.

In other Liverpool news, Jerome Sinclair has quit Liverpool for Watford – but took to Twitter on Thursday to thank the Merseysiders for a memorable five years.
