Liverpool have entered the international break with a staggering 11 players on the casualty list, Football Insider sources understand.

Astonishingly, 27 players have represented the first team this season and 11 of them are now receiving treatment for injuries.

With Jordan Ibe pulling out of England Under-21 squad tonight with a knee problem, there is now a whole team of players out of action.

The teenager joins a treatment room that already includes Mamadou Sakho (knee), James Milner (hamstring), Kolo Toure (hamstring), Jordan Rossiter (hamstring), Connor Randall (hamstring), Daniel Sturridge (knee), Jordan Henderson (foot) as well as long-term absentees Danny Ings, Joe Gomez and Jon Flanagan, who are all recovering from knee operations. Ings and Gomez are not expected to play again this season.

There was some encouraging news tonight as it emerged that Sakho has not become the third Liverpool player in a month to sustain a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury.

However, the defender is expected to spend a number of weeks on the sidelines before he is fit to play again.

The length of the Liverpool injury list will be a huge concern to manager Jurgen Klopp, as all of the players bar rookies Rossiter and Randall would be expected to compete for a place in the 18-man matchday squad.
