Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes that the Reds do not need to make big money additions to compete in the Premier League next season.

The German manager has already completed the signing of four new players this summer with Sadio Mane, Loris Karius, Joel Matip and Marko Grujic all arriving at Anfield.

Liverpool have missed out on Mario Gotze in the current transfer market as teams around them in the Premier League have completed some of the biggest deals of the window.

Manchester United have already completed the signings of Zlatan Ibrahimović and Henrikh Mkhitaryan whilst Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea have all also made significant movements in the market.

“If we go for players and there is obviously no chance, there is no point,” Klopp told the Telegraph.

“Look for players you can have and make the best of it. At the moment nobody thinks about the good games we played last season. They only think Manchester United have taken this player or Manchester City have taken this player and we have taken ‘what is the name?’ and that is it.”

Liverpool missed out on both Champions League and Europa League football last season and Klopp will be hoping that his first preseason at the club will help them compete on all fronts in their next domestic campaign.

In other Liverpool transfer news, defender Joe Gomez has informed fans he has no trouble with his knees after he revealed on Thursday he has suffered an injury setback.
