Liverpool have missed out on Real Madrid star Jese Rodriguez after the forward agreed a £21million move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report.

French publication L’Equipe claim that the deal will be officially confirmed within the next few hours after the two clubs agreed the terms of the deal over the weekend.

The Sun had claimed on Monday of last week that the 23-year-old was interesting Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, after Marca had previously reported that Jese was set to leave.

It is understood that both West Ham and Arsenal were also interested in the future of the pacy winger.

But PSG have won the race for the forward after taking advantage of his contract situation, with the player entering the final 12 months of his current deal.

Manager Jurgen Klopp was hoping to entice the emerging attacking prospect to Anfield in the current transfer window as he seeks to bring in more striking options, having lost faith in both Christian Benteke and Mario Balotelli.

Jese made 28 La Liga appearances last term, though he started only seven matches. He found the back of the net five times, as well as scoring one in Europe during Real’s Champions League tie against Roma.

Despite having a good working relationship with Galacticos manager Zidane, Jese has been advised to build a career away from Madrid.
