Atletico Madrid have slapped a £30.9million valuation on Javier Manquillo less than a year on from the player leaving Liverpool according to reports.

Brendan Rodgers initially brought the full-back to Merseyside on a two year loan deal with an eye on a permanent move in 2014.

However after failing to nail down a regular place in the Liverpool first-team and eventually being reduced to occasional appearances on the bench, both sides agreed to terminate Manquillo’s loan last summer.

The right-back has since been shipped out to Marseille in Ligue 1 in a bid for him to get the regular game time he did not get under Rodgers.

Manquillo has flourished in France making 31 starts in all competitions and chipping in with two assists.

His form has been so eye-catching that French radio RMC Sport has reported that Marseille are eager to make Manquillo’s stay permanent.

Damaged goods: Rodgers sent Manquillo back to Atletico one year into a two year loan deal

However they have been swiftly shot down by Atletico, who have set a £30.8million asking price for the defender.

Atletico are thought to be unwilling to part with the 21-year-old and see him as part of the Spanish club’s long-term future.

Liverpool splashed out £12.5million on right-back Nathaniel Clyne last summer and he has gone on to be one of the Reds’ most consistent performers this season.
