Dejan Lovren was awarded the man-of-the-match for his display in Liverpool’s dramatic 10-man comeback against Crystal Palace – but Twitter is still divided over the Croatian.
Liverpool snatched a late 2-1 victory from Palace when Christian Benteke won and the converted a 95th-minute penalty.
His goal was the last kick of the game, but it was Lovren’s performance that got Liverpool fans talking.
The defender was unmovable at the back and played almost half an hour in a variety of roles at the back, including right-back, following James Milner’s sending-off.
Lovren has attracted a huge amount of criticism from Liverpool fans since arriving in a £20million deal from Southampton two summers ago and Twitter hotly debated if he is good enough for Anfield.
Lovren has managed to revive his Liverpool career after a dreadful start to Merseyside life under Brendan Rodgers and Twitter has put his resurgence down to one man.
This Liverpool fan is already looking forward to next year.
The result lifts Liverpool up to seventh in the table with the possibility of snatching the final Champions League spot still alive as the Reds sit six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went home extremely happy and Lovren was vocal on Instagram and Twitter after the victory.
