Liverpool are set to open new contract talks with Adam Lallana following his outstanding run of form, according to a report.

The Express claim that Liverpool will begin negotiations with Lallana’s representatives before the end of the year to secure him to an extended deal.

The £25million signing from Southampton has nearly three years to run on his current agreement but the Merseysiders want to tie him down further after his impressive start to the new season.

It is said that the England international is settled on Merseyside and will believe his future remains there as he thrives under Jurgen Klopp.

The England midfielder has begun the new season in eyecatching style, scoring impressive goals in league wins over Arsenal and Leicester.

Lallana, 28, scored the pick of the goals in the 4-1 hammering of the Premier League champions on Saturday by hitting an unstoppable drive into the top corner.

He also scored his first England goal in the international break as his 95th minute goal secured a 1-0 win over Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier.

Liverpool are blessed with several talented midfield options including Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Georginio Wijnaldum and Marko Grujic.

Lallana’s impressive start has meant he has become a crucial part of the first-team and he will hope to continue his form.

In other Liverpool team news, one of the club’s midfielders has topped the Premier League chart with an impressive statistic.
