Football Insider rates the Liverpool players in their 2-0 win against Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
Loris Karius 7 – Comfortable and in command. Denied Pienaar with a fine save after Liverpool were undone by a long ball into the box.
Nathaniel Clyne 6 – Had plenty of opportunity to bomb forward but his distribution and decision-making was mixed.
Joel Matip 6 – Had a few nervous moments and his distribution was not as super-smooth as normal.
Dejan Lovren 7 – Dominated in both penalty boxes and helped nullify the threat of Jermain Defoe and Victor Anichebe.
James Milner 7 – Spent most of the match in the opposition half and was key to breaking down the resilient visitors. Calmly slotted away his penalty.
Jordan Henderson 7 – The skipper’s energy and dynamism set the tone for another dominant Liverpool display.
Georginio Wijnaldum 6 – Operated smoothly outside of the box but far too lax in it. Added to his growing list of mis-hit finishes with two powderpuff volleys.
Emre Can 7 – Too static in the first half but pushed further forward after the break and made some fine runs beyond the forwards.
Sadio Mane 6 – Below the high standards he has set in his first three months at Anfield. His touch was heavy and his final ball was poor but he was always a threat and won the penalty with a lung-bursting run.
Roberto Firmino 7 – The best of Liverpool’s attacking starters. Moved out to the left following Coutinho withdrawal and provided a constant stream of invention and inviting crosses.
Philippe Coutinho 6 – Stretchered off midway through the first half just when he appeared to be taking the match by the scruff of the neck. The playmaker’s withdrawal brought a cloud over Anfield and forced Klopp to re-jig his forward line.
Divock Origi (for Coutinho 31mins) – 8
Lucas (for Firmino 87mins) – 6
