Liverpool players are convinced that Jurgen Klopp can led them to the title this season.
That is the assessment of former Anfield striker Stan Collymore after spending two hours in the company of Daniel Sturridge last Friday.
Klopp arrived on Anfield amid huge excitement among supporters last week and Collymore gave some insight into the mood of the player.
“I spent two hours with Daniel Sturridge on Friday and I can tell you he and the rest of his Liverpool pals are buzzing about Jurgen Klopp’s arrival,” said media pundit Collymore.
“There’s a genuine excitement about the fact Liverpool have landed a Category A manager, someone who is up there with a Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola.”
Klopp spent seven years at Borussia Dortmund moulding them into one of the most feared clubs in Europe, winning two Bundesliga titles and guiding them to the 2013 Champions League final.
Liverpool were within two points of winning the title three years ago and Collymore has revealed that the feeling from the Liverpool stars goes far beyond just having a go at snatching the final Champions League spot.
“There’s a belief among them that they could even surprise one or two people this time out,” he said.
“According to Sturridge, there’s very much a sense of, we’re only six points off, we’re not a million miles away and the lads feel we can have a good season.”
