Liverpool are weighing up a sensational bid to re-sign goalkeeper Pepe Reina, according to a report.

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport claim the Merseysiders are interested in buying back the 33-year-old two years after selling him to Bayern Munich.

Reina left Anfield for the German giants in 2014 following a season on loan at Napoli and subsequently returned to the Italian club in a permanent deal last summer.

The Spaniard, who is contracted to Napoli until the summer of 2018, has been a mainstay of the Serie A team this season after a year spent on the fringes at Bayern.

It is claimed that Napoli are keen to keep hold of Reina, who made 44 appearances for the club in all competitions this season.

Liverpool’s reported interest in the experienced Spain international comes after they signed Loris Karius from Mainz for £4.7million last week to provide competition for Simon Mignolet.

However, the Merseysiders will listen to offers for Adam Bogdan this summer and are set to loan out Danny Ward, who was the deputy to Mignolet in the final weeks of the season.

Reina In other Liverpool transfer news, a striker from the club has said he is set to leave Anfield after receiving the same offer every year for four years.
