Sadio Mane has been sounded out about his interest in joining Liverpool this summer in a deal that could cost a staggering £72.5million, according to a report.
The Merseysiders have identified the Southampton winger as a key target as they aim to bring more pace and variety to Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The Sun on Sunday claim Southampton are demanding that Liverpool pay a transfer fee of £40million if they want to sign Mane.
It is said that Mane has also made it clear that he will demand wages of £125,000-a-week to move to Anfield, which would cost £32.5million over the entirety of a five-year contract.
The Senegal international, 24, has two years left on his current deal, which he signed when he joined Southampton from Salzburg in the summer of 2014.
Mane has staked his claim in the last two years to be one of the outstanding wide players in the Premier League.
He scored 13 goals and supplied nine assists from 40 matches in his debut campaign and followed it up with an even more impressive 15 goals and nine assists from 43 matches in 2015-16.
The Mirror claim Southampton are preparing a lucrative new contract offer to Mane to fend off interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.
Liverpool have also been strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Gotze, who has been told he can leave the Bundesliga club with a year left on his contract.
In other Liverpool transfer news, a Reds attacker has sent his agent to approach another club over a possible move.
