Simon Mignolet delivered a message on Twitter expressing his enthusiasm for Belgium’s clash against Estonia on Sunday evening but he was left out of the starting XI.
The Liverpool keeper started Belgium’s 1-1 draw against the Netherlands on Wednesday evening but has been dropped for their World Cup qualifier against Estonia.
It wasn’t a surprise though, as Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois came into the starting XI and Mignolet was dropped to the bench alongside Liverpool team-mate Divock Origi.
Mignolet has made 18 appearances for the national side since making his debut in March 2011 and has been involved with the international set-up in every age group at youth level from the under-16s.
He has made just seven appearances for Liverpool this season after he was dropped by Jurgen Klopp following the arrival of Loris Karius in the summer.
His last Premier League start came in the 2-1 victory against Chelsea in September and his appearance for Belgium on Wednesday was hist first for the national side in over 12 months.
