Liverpool are ready to push forward in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund attacker Christian Pulisic, according to a report.

The Daily Mail have claimed that the Reds are looking to add another attacking option with Philippe Coutinho’s injury causing further problems to the forward line.

The Brazil international suffered an ankle injury in Saturday’s victory over Sunderland and Jurgen Klopp has revealed he will now be out until the new year.

Attacker Danny Ings also suffered a long-term injury at the beginning of November, while Sadio Mane will be absent from the squad in January due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

This has now prompted Liverpool to “step up their pursuit of” Pulisic.

Pulisic, 18, can play across the attacking midfield three and would provide Liverpool with a lot of versatility if he was to join.

However, it is reported that Dortmund would only consider selling the attacker if they received an offer close to £25million.

Klopp initially brought the 11-time capped USA international to the German giants and will know if the young prospect is worth the large fee.

The attacker is still contracted with Dortmund until 2019 and is a key figure for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring two goals and providing six in 14 fixtures this season.

Football Insider verdict:

Pulisic would be a very worthwhile signing for Liverpool. It is looking increasingly likely that the Reds will qualify for next season’s Champions League competition, something they haven’t achieved since 2014. Their deals in the summer of two years ago were ultimately wrong, seeing players such as Rickie Lambert, Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic among many players not good enough for the elite competition. However, the Pulisic deal would show the club have learned from their previous mistakes. The attacking ace has already featured in the Champions League at his young age and has shown early signs that he will only get better. Klopp should look to add the young star to his squad for Dortmund’s asking price, as he could turn out to be worth a lot more in the future.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Paul Merson believes the Reds can win the Premier League with this signing in January.
