Liverpool have made a £5.6million bid for Argentine striker Lucas Alario, according to reports.
Alario has impressed for River Plate this season scoring ten goals in 22 appearances for the Argentine club and has attracted the eye of Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment team.
Argentine news outlet Infobae have reported that an offer is already on the table for the 23-year-old as Klopp takes the first steps to revamp his squad for the next season.
As speculation mounts in Alario’s homeland about a possible move to England, the striker was asked about the Liverpool rumours by TV channel TyC Sports.
“Tell them [Liverpool] to contact me,” said Alario. “Given the choice, I’d like to experience the Premier League, and I’d like to play for Liverpool.
“I always select them when I play football on the Playstation.”
Alario moved to River from league rivals Colon last summer and has yet to play outside Argentina.
But the forward has played against Europe’s best and against former Liverpool players, with Alario lining up against Barcelona in the Fifa Club World Cup in December.
Alario did not get on the scoresheet that day, but former Red Luis Suarez did with two goals in the 3-0 victory.
The forward scored in River’s most recent game against Banfield to ensure his side rescued a late draw.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Klopp has already begun to look towards a summer revamp with his scouts checking out a potential £12million player.
