Jurgen Klopp is eager to bring Borussia Dortmund teenager Christian Pulisic to Liverpool, according to a report.

Pulisic, 17, caught the eye of Klopp when he was Dortmund manager and the Liverpool boss has watched from afar this season as the youngster made his senior Bundesliga debut for the German giants and linked up with the USA international team in March.

A Bleacher Report column claims that Klopp has been closely monitoring his former player and is ready to swoop should the attacking midfielder fulfil his potential.

“Borussia Dortmund don’t want Jurgen Klopp taking away any of their top talent, but I hear the Liverpool manager is keeping a close eye on 17-year-old Christian Pulisic,” claimed Bleacher Report columnist Dean Jones.

“Klopp helped him make his breakthrough in Germany, he got him involved with the [Dortmund] first team at a very young age and he has been so impressed with him that he would like to have him in one of his sides again going forward.”

The American signed for Dortmund in January of last year and was so lethal in the youth teams, getting six assists and six goals in just 12 appearances for the under-19s, that he has forced himself into the first team plans of coach Thomas Tuchel.

Pulisic has so far made nine appearances for Dortmund since making his league debut in January and came on as a substitute for the Germans in the first leg of their Europa League quarter final with Liverpool.

Liverpool have a vital away goal in that tie and are in an excellent position to make Klopp’s reunion with Dortmund a painful experience for the Germans, but the report claims that the Merseyside manager is content to wait and see how Pulisic progresses before making any kind of solid bid.

“Pulisic is a very exciting talent, he has just made his USA debut. Klopp sees him as an attacking midfielder going forward in the future.

“He is going to monitor him over the next 12 months to see how he’s progressing and if he continues at the rate we have seen so far, I am told we can expect Jurgen Klopp to try to sign him and bring him to Liverpool.”

In other Liverpool transfer news, another one of Klopp’s former players has spoken out ahead of the Thursday Europa League clash.
