Liverpool are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Alex Song this summer.
Football Insider sources have learned that the Merseysiders are tracking the Cameroon international, who has spent the season on loan at West Ham.
The London club are concerned that Song’s form has tailed off in recent months and are not convinced about making his move into a permanent one.
Barcelona are not interested in recalling Song to Camp Nou even though they are banned from signing players until 2016 and will listen to offers for the 27-year-old, who has two years remaining on his contract.
Liverpool made enquiries for Song last summer and retain an interest in the player, who is rated at the £8m mark by Barcelona.
Brendan Rodgers’ team believe a deal is possible given his ability at anchoring the midfield and his considerable Premier League experience earned at Arsenal and West Ham.
