Loris Karius has revealed on Twitter his excitement at Liverpool’s next Premier League game after sitting out the midweek fixture.
The summer signing was on the bench as he made way for Simon Mignolet to feature in the Reds’ 2-1 victory against Tottenham on Tuesday evening.
However, Karius is expected to return to the starting line-up for Liverpool’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
The former Mainz star is clearly looking forward to getting back on the pitch after he posted an image on his personal Twitter account, counting down just two days until he’s back in action.
Since his arrival, Karius has had to challenge Mignolet for the Liverpool number one spot but he was given the backing by his manager last week.
“In this moment we have a number one, it’s Loris Karius. He [Mignolet] is still not happy but nobody can see this. In training he is hard-working,” Klopp told the media, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
The 23 year-old had to wait before making his Premier League debut after he picked up a hand injury prior to the Reds’ first league victory against Arsenal.
He eventually put on the gloves ahead of Mignolet in Liverpool’s 5-1 victory against Hull City and despite some nervy performances, has remained the manager’s first choice since.
Karius had played Liverpool’s last five fixtures before sitting out on Tuesday evening and he will be eager to show why Klopp wants him as number one on Saturday after Mignolet had a relatively solid performance against Tottenham.
In other Liverpool news, this midfield duo are axed in Klopp’s best possible XI ahead of clash against Crystal Palace.
