Manchester City are in talks to sign prolific striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a report.

The reigning African Player of the Year has been targeted by incoming City manager Pep Guardiola as he steps up plans to strengthen the squad.

Reliable French publication France Football claim Aubameyang is a priority target of Guardiola and the 2012 and 2014 Premier League champions are prepared to spend big to sign him.

The 26-year-old has had an outstanding season for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 25 goals in 31 Bundesliga matches and 39 in 48 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Since joining Dortmund from Saint-Etienne in 2013, the prolific striker has struck 80 times in 142 matches for the German club to become one of the most sought-after front men in the world.

It is said that Aubameyang figures prominently on the the shortlist of priority transfer targets that Guardiola has handed to the club.

However, City face competition to land the Gabon international from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

In other Manchester City news, the club have agreed a deal for an Arsenal midfielder ahead of the summer window.
