Manchester City are plotting a stunning move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, according to a report.

The Express claim that City boss Pep Guardiola could move for the Chile international if he fails to agree a new deal with the Gunners.

It is said that Sanchez wants £200,000 per-week to commit his future to the north London outfit as well as evidence that Arsenal will mount a serious challenge for major honours this season.

Sanchez, 27, was previously signed by Guardiola in 2011, when he completed a £25million move from Udinese to Barcelona.

The forward, who missed a penalty in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Hull on Saturday, has scored four goals and provided two assists in six games this season.

The attacker has a stellar record under Arsene Wenger, bagging 46 goals and 25 assists in 99 games for the Frenchman.

Sanchez’s current deal at Arsenal expires in 2018 but Wenger will be keen to lay the foundations of a new agreement long before the forward enters into the final year of his current contract.

Sanchez will be hoping to drive Arsenal to a League Cup win this term and will be readying himself to play in the third round of the competition against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

In other Arsenal transfer news, Martin Keown has insisted Olivier Giroud should be concerned that he was on the bench for the Gunners in their midweek clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
