Marcus Antonsson scored three goals during Leeds’ Under-23s 3-2 victory against Huddersfield on Monday afternoon.
The striker opened the scoring after just four minutes before scoring a double in the second half to ensure Jason Blunt’s side took all three points.
It was a strong team named by the Yorkshire giants with senior players Antonsson, Marco Silvestri, Toumani Diagouraga, Stuart Dallas, Alex Mowatt and Matt Grimes all starting against the youthful Terriers.
Several of the senior players including Silvestri and Antonsson would have been keen to impress during the clash as they currently find themselves on the fringe of Garry Monk’s senior side.
The 25-year-old Swede made the switch to Elland Road in the summer for an undisclosed fee.
Many will have been keen to see what he could bring to the club, but he has often been used as backup to top scorer Chris Wood.
The striker came on as a 78th minute substitute during Sunday afternoon’s 2-0 defeat against Newcastle taking his tally up to 15 appearances for the Yorkshire giants with a return of three goals and one assist.
He will now be hoping that his impressive performance for the Under-23s will see him earn some more pitch time against bottom of the league Rotherham on Saturday.
