Mark Lawrenson has backed Arsenal to run out comfortable 3-0 winners against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

Arsene Wenger’s side thrashed Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad 6-0 on Wednesday night to top Group A in the Champions League with seven points.

They are also in red-hot form in the Premier League, where the Gunners have won their last six league fixtures.

BBC Sports pundit Lawrenson believes it will be an easy victory for the north London club against an out-of-form north east side.

“Boro are finding life tough in the top flight and it is their lack of goals that concerns me most,” Lawrenson told the BBC Sports website.

“They have not picked up a single point this season after falling behind in a game, so the first goal is going to be very important on Saturday. You have to fancy Arsenal to get it.

“The Gunners have now won seven games in a row in all competitions and it is hard not to see them making it eight on Saturday.”

Aitor Karanka’s men have not picked up league victory since they beat rivals Sunderland 2-1 in August.

As a result they are one place above the relegation zone, with six points from eight games as they travel to the Emirates at the weekend.

By contrast Arsenal are second in the league table with 19 points, level with league leaders Manchester City, who host Southampton on Sunday.

In other Arsenal team news, supporter and broadcaster Piers Morgan makes a bold claim about this Gunners star player.
