Martin Keown has expressed he likes the way Arsenal defender Shkrodan Mustafi “organises” himself as he heaped praise on the player’s attributes.

German international Mustafi has started his Gunners career in bright fashion, helping his side secure five wins on the bounce following his £35 million summer transfer from Valencia.

The 24-year-old has built a solid partnership at the heart of the club’s defence, alongside teammate Laurent Koscielny early on in the season.

This has impressed former Premier League winner and Arsenal defender Keown, who listed the qualities he likes about German Mustafi.

“I like the way Mustafi organises himself,” Keown told the Daily Mail. “He is very good at slowing down his opponent, quick to get into position and reacts to danger quickly. He has a no-nonsense approach. He is also not selfish – he wants to help his partner.

“At 6ft, Mustafi is not the tallest but he has that spring and athleticism. Those attributes help create a better all-round centre back.”

Mustafi has played six Premier League and Champions League games for the north London club this season, helping Arsene Wenger’s men keep three clean sheets in the process.

The former Valencia defender has adjusted well to life in London, with Wenger’s side third in the Premier League table with 16 points from seven games.

He will be hoping to add more value to the club’s defence as the season progresses, and help the Gunners secure that all elusive Premier League crown that supporters have been craving for the last 12 years.

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last nine league encounters in all competitions, with Bob Bradley taking charge of his first game for Swansea, when they visit the Emirates after the international break.
