Martin Skrtel has declared he would love to play Manchester City every week after he put the finishing touch to Liverpool’s breathtaking win at Etihad Stadium.

The centre-back slammed in the visiting team’s fourth goal of their 4-1 rout of the Premier League title favourites on a memorable evening for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Strikes from Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and an Elequim Mangala own goal had given Liverpool a 3-0 lead after 32 minutes.

“The way we played in the first half was brilliant,” Skrtel told Sky Sports afterwards. “We scored three in the first half and could have scored more. The team spirit and teamwork was perfect.”

Skrtel had an outstanding game as Liverpool restricted City’s expensive line-up, which included the returning Sergio Aguero, who scored the home side’s only goal, to just three shots on target.

The defender’s emphatic volley to seal the three points was his fourth against City as a Liverpool player, his highest tally against any Premier League opponent.

Skrtel said: “It is the fourh goal I have scored against City – I wouldn’t mind playing them every week.”

The defeat for City was only the second time they have conceded four goals at the Etihad and completed Liverpool’s first set of back-to-back away wins since March.
