Mauricio Pochettino has ruled Moussa Dembele out of Tottenham’s clash against Hull in a major blow to the team.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League clash, Pochettino was quoted by Spurs’ official Twitter account as saying that Erik Lamela and Vincent Janssen would also be unavailable for the Premier League clash.

The loss of midfielder Dembele is a particular blow given how important he is to controlling the tempo for the Londoners.

“Erik Lamela came back from Argentina on Monday and is working to be available as soon as possible,” Pochettino revealed.

“Vincent Janssen is still out. Mousa Dembele will miss the game with a foot injury.”

Lamela, 24, had returned to his home country of Argentina for family reasons as he continued to recover from a hip injury.

Now back in England, the former Roma winger is still said to be recovering from the injury that has seen him miss nine league and cup encounters.

He will join out-of-form striker Janssen on the sidelines, who has been suffering from an ankle injury and has not featured since the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea.

Belgium international Dembele was withdrawn with 20 minutes still on the clock against Manchester United on Sunday, and he is unavailable with what appears to be the latest in a series of minor injuries.

A win for Pochettino’s injury-hit squad against relegation candidates Hull will see them keep the pressure on fourth placed Manchester City, as Spurs remain within three points of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Spurs will be hoping City drop points against Watford at the Etihad on Wednesday night.

In other Tottenham team news, this is the best possible Spurs side to face Hull.
