Nottingham Forest are close to signing Portuguese winger Lica as they aim to wrap up their third signing in 24 hours, according to a report.

The Nottingham Post initially claimed on their transfer news blog on Wednesday (8:36am) that the Porto player was to undergo a medical at the club on deadline day ahead of a reported £300,000 move.

The Post updated their blog on Wednesday afternoon (3.05pm) to report that Lica will become the Championship club’s third signing of the last 24 hours of the transfer window.

It is said that the 27-year-old is at the Nigel Doughty Academy to finalise his move to the City Ground.

Forest have already added eight players to their squad this summer transfer window, which rose to 10 when chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi confirmed the signings of Mustapha Carayol from Middlesbrough and striker Nicolao Dumitru on loan from Napoli on Tuesday evening.

Lica, 27,  joined the Porto from Estori in 2014 for £1.3million, but has failed to cement a place in the Porto side, with two loan spells at Rayo Vellecano and Vitória de Guimarães.

A fee of £300,000 is low in today’s market, but this may be due to the player’s contract running out next summer, with Porto perhaps hasty to gain what money they can for the 5’11 attacker, instead of letting him go for free next year.

He has 100 top flight appearances in Portugal, scoring 15 goals in the process, along with creating 11 assists for his team-mates.

The winger has appeared once for his country, in a 3-1 loss to Brazil in 2013.
