Michael Owen has stated he would be surprised if Arsenal fail to pick up three points against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates.

Gunners manager Arsene Wenger turns 67 at the weekend and TV pundit Owen expects him to celebrate with a win.

The north London club take on a newly-promoted Boro side who have struggled since their promotion to the top-flight.

Former Liverpool striker Owen believes those difficulties will continue for Aitor Karanka’s men, as he backed Arsenal to record a comfortable win.

“Happy birthday to Arsene Wenger who turns 67 on Saturday and, whilst he might not see as many goals as candles, I would be surprised if he didn’t have three points to celebrate,” Owen wrote in his Bet Victor column.

“Boro’s only PL win so far this season came against bottom-of-the-table Sunderland and they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 19 PL games on the road. I think they are in for another difficult afternoon.”

Wenger’s side beat Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets 6-0 on Wednesday night in their Champions League group game encounter on home soil.

As a result the Gunners have won nine out of their last ten fixtures in all competitions, while their opponents are searching for their first win since August.

Arsenal are now second in the Premier League table with 19 points from eight games, level on points with leaders Manchester City.

In other Arsenal team news, the club’s summer signing has revealed he was expecting to play a more starring role for the Gunners this season.
