Former Newcastle forward Micky Quinn has reacted to the Magpies late comeback victory over Norwich on Wednesday stating that it almost gave him a heart attack.
Two goals from Yoan Gouffran and Dwight Gayle in stopped time ensured Rafa Benitez’s side a 4-3 victory, with the latter completing a hat-trick.
The forward opened the scoring early in the first half before Graham Dorrans levelled with a penalty and Cameron Jerome and Jacob Murphy putting their side two goals ahead.
It had looked like Gayle had scored a consolation goal to bring the scoreline to 3-2 on the 71st minute before the two late strikes.
Quinn, who had played for Newcastle for three years reacted to the victory via his personal Twitter account to celebrate his former side’s sensational victory.
Gayle, 25, completed a move from Premier League side Crystal Palace in the summer.
He was going through a four match goalless run before his hat-trick against the Canaries, bringing his goal tally to seven goals in nine appearances for the north east club.
His impressive start has helped Newcastle start their new Championship campaign in good form.
The Magpies sit in third place in England’s second tier with 19 points from their first 10 matches, as they look to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
