Kevin Stewart has signed a new Liverpool contract, according to a reliable journalist.

Times correspondent Paul Joyce has claimed on his personal Twitter account that midfielder Stewart has settled the terms of a new contract that runs until 2021.

This comes even though the 23-year-old only signed his last contract in February.

Stewart has convinced manager Jurgen Klopp and the Anfield hierarchy to improve his terms which reflect his new status.

London-born Stewart has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Klopp’s side, including six first-team matches this season.

He has been hailed by his manager for his energy, tackling and ball retention, with Klopp going so far as to identify him as the best tackler at the club following Liverpool’s recent League Cup win over Tottenham.

Liverpool went into the international break at the top of the Premier League following their 6-1 demolition of Watford on Sunday.

In other Liverpool news, Charlie Adam has expressed his surprise that the Merseysiders did not sign this available player.
