Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is a target for Manchester United, according to a report.
The Sun claim that United manager Jose Mourinho is preparing a move for the 28-year-old as he is yet to agree a new deal at the Emirates.
Ozil’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the 2017/18 season and he is already the club’s highest-paid player on £140,000-a-week, but the player’s advisors and Arsenal chiefs are at a stand-off in contract negotiations.
It is reported that the German international has already snubbed a new £160,000-a-week deal with the Gunners and Mourinho is prepared to offer a staggering £250,000-a-week.
The Sun claim that United would make a move in the summer transfer window as they accept a January move would be very unlikely.
Mourinho may have some leverage in the deal having already worked with the midfielder during their time at Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Ozil moved to the Emirates in 2013 for £42.4million from Real Madrid and has been a major success for Arsene Wenger.
The attacking midfielder has made 131 appearances for the north London club, scoring 27 goals and supplying 47 assists.
He is well known across Europe for his strength in assists, but this season has shown his strength in front of goal.
Ozil has made 14 appearances in all competitions this campaign and already scored seven goals.
