Danny Murphy has backed new Liverpool signing Sadio Mane to cope with the pressure of playing at the club and become a superstar at the club.
Ex-Liverpool midfielder Murphy says he is excited by the summer signing and has backed him to be a Liverpool superstar.
“I’m really excited by Mane,” Murphy told BBC Sport’s focus forum, as quoted by their website.
“I think, begin a Liverpool supporter, he gives them something different and he showed in the first game at Arsenal that he’s not going to be scared of the pressure of playing for Liverpool.
“That’s always the worry when you go to a big club, can you cope with the pressure that’s on you to perform and he doesn’t look like that type.
“Even at Tottenham at the weekend he was fantastic and I think he could be a superstar for Liverpool this season.”
The £34million summer signing from Southampton scored a stunning solo goal and was a key figure as Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated Arsenal 4-3 in their Premier League opener.
He has played two further games for the Merseyside giants, and picked up two assists in their 5-0 win over Burton in the EFL Cup.
He spent two seasons at Southampton before leaving, and in that time he was able to score 25 times in 75 games.
The Senegal international shone in the Premier League last season with 11 goals and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp made the decision he was worth big money to bring to Anfield.
In other Liverpool news, they will pursue these two players in the next transfer window.
